Who we are

This policy covers caireformadison.com, run by Friends of Kaleem Caire (“the campaign”), the candidate committee for Kaleem Caire for Mayor of Madison, Wisconsin.

What we collect

We collect only what you choose to give us:

• Volunteer sign-up: your name, email address, phone number, ZIP code and neighborhood, how you would like to help, when you are available, the languages you speak, how you heard about the campaign, any message you write, and whether you want email updates or text messages.
• Email updates: your name and email address.
• Emails you send us: your address and whatever you write.
• Contributions: ActBlue collects your payment and contributor details on its own site. The campaign receives the contributor information that Wisconsin law requires it to keep and report. We never see your full card number.

When you visit, our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and it does not track you across other sites.

How we use it

• to organize volunteers and match you with activities that fit;
• to send campaign updates by email, and by text message if you agreed;
• to answer your questions and invitations;
• to meet our legal duties, including campaign finance reports;
• to keep the site secure and working.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with:

• service providers that help us run the campaign, such as Google (volunteer records), Mailchimp (email), ActBlue (contributions) and Cloudflare (hosting), which may use it only to provide their services;
• campaign staff and volunteers who need it to organize the work;
• government agencies when the law requires it, such as the contributor information that appears in public campaign finance reports.

Mobile numbers and text-message consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes.

Text messages

If you agree to texts, we will send messages about volunteer shifts and campaign news. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help at any time.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from emails with the link in any message.
• Reply STOP to any text to stop messages.
• Ask to see, correct or delete your information by writing to info@caireformadison.com. We will honor your request unless the law requires us to keep the information, as with contributor records.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as the campaign needs it, and contributor records for as long as Wisconsin law requires. When the campaign ends, we will delete the information we no longer need.

Security

We use established providers with strong security and limit access to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send sensitive details, such as financial or health information, through our forms or by email.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
